Cookies
The biggest problem is with Internet Explorer version 6.0 and higher. By default the security settings have been set to reject the "cookies" needed by PayPal. You can fix this by manually overriding the cookie settings. This is done with the following steps:
- In Internet Explorer Version 6 & higher select Tools then select, Internet Options.
- Select the Privacy tab.
- Select Advanced.
- Click on the box for Override Automatic Cookie Handling so that the checkmark shows.
- Under First-party Cookies select Accept.
- Under Third-party Cookies select Accept.
- Click on the box for Always allow session cookies so that the checkmark shows.
- Click OK.
- Click OK again.
- Exit Internet Explorer completely and Restart it.
This will usually solve the problem with the Cookies that PayPal sends.
After you are done with your PayPal Session it is recommended that you undo the above modifications thus resetting your browser back to the default security settings.
Security Settings
Check the security settings are correct.
- Select Tools and then select Internet Options.
- Select the Privacy tab.
- Select Advanced and scroll to the Security Section
- Check settings for:
- SSL 2.0
- SSL 3.0
- TLS 1.0
- PCT 1.0.
- Click OK.
- Click OK again.
- Exit Internet Explorer completely and Restart it.
Java Script
Java Script settings on your browser may be incorrect.
The payment page makes use of the program language Java so it is important that you are using an up-to-date browser (Firefox 1.0, Netscape 5+, Explorer 5+, Safari, etc.) or a recent version of AOL. Outdated browsers are not able to handle some of the Java instructions.
Check that Java has been enabled.
Firewalls
Other problems come from using a firewall, this may stop the payment site interacting with your browser. The solution is to turn it off while making a payment.
Do remember to turn it back on!
